In this issue, Lundgaard et al. (e1001743) demonstrate that growth factor signaling impacts myelination with a dependence on glutamate release from active neurons. This image of myelinating neurons (red) and oligodendrocytes (green) shows that oligodendrocytes myelinate the glutamatergic neurons but not the interneurons (white).
