Transparency.
I advocate absolute transparency of the manuscript submission process in peer-review journals. A working model for such a system is currently used by the BioMed Central online journals. The entire pre-publication history is available: submission dates, names of reviewers, the review itself, the author response, etc. Transparency promotes accountability and integrity.

Contribution.
Reviewership is an honor and a privilege -- an opportunity to selflessly critique and forward the scientific achievements of peer scientists.

Responsibility.
Let's promote 100% responsibility throughout the review process: on the author, the editor, the reviewers, and the scientific community. Be responsible for a speedy, yet thoughtful, review process.

Leave the 'blame game' and incentives for politicians and criminals. Promote transparency. Be a contribution. Be responsible. Lead the way. We're all in this together.
