closeworthy but insubstantial

The aim of the project is obviously good, but I am surprised that it has been published without the usual details you would expect in an academic work. There is essentially no discussion of the theoretical underpinnings of the work, or placing it in the context of previously published work. There is no detail of the mini-projects at a level that would enable anyone else to replicate them (the broad outlines presented do not differentiate this from general problem-based practical courses). There is no presentation of outcomes of any description; not even student satisfaction and before-and after subjective opinions.

The Community Page offers authors a forum for organizations and societies to highlight their efforts to enhance the dissemination and value of scientific knowledge. We typically do not publish education research articles in this section, but rather descriptions of informal science education initiatives.
