I am surprised that the authors to not mention the work by Rizzi et al 2004 and Jolly et al. 2004 concerning the activation of satellite sequences in human heat shocked cells. Indeed, a transient transcriptional activation of heterochromatin also occurs in human cells, which correlates with an acetylation of pericentric heterochromatin.
