Example of an assembly path modulated by soft disorder found in the PDB [3d09_A (unbound), 5bua_A (1 partner), 2ady_A (2 partners), 5lgy_A (3 partners)]. We show several protein complexes in which a particular protein (whose structure is shown in black) progressively interacts with an increasing number of partners. We observe that the location of soft disordered regions (in orange) in simpler complexes contains information about where the new interfaces will be located after binding. Seoane et al 2022
