Shown here is a confocal scanning laser microscopy depth view of a Candida albicans biofilm, in which blue color represents cells closest to and red color represents cells farthest from the biofilm substrate. Most notable in this image are the abundant hyphae that extend throughout the biofilm (see Nobile et al).
