Avian leukosis virus subgroup J (ALV-J), a retrovirus, undergoes significant genetic evolution. Our study finds for the first time that the N123I mutation within the RBD region of gp85 enhances the replication ability of ALV-J, making it more easily transmissible and potentially causing large-scale epidemics. The picture shows the phylogenetic tree illustrating the evolutionary relationships between the gp85 gene in various ALV-J strains.
