rVSV CVS G viruses are exposed to acidic pH within the cell body of DRG neurons.

Confocal microscopy of rVSV CVS G AF647 virions (blue) and the marker for acidified endosomes, LysoTracker (green) during uptake into DRG neurons pre-stained with CellTracker (CT) and NucBlue (NucB). Virus and LysoTracker were administered to the N compartment and localization of virions within acidified endosomes was assayed at 10hpi in the microchannel neurites, somal neurites and cell bodies. Dotted circles emphasize virions of interest.
