The protein encoded by the Trypanosoma brucei gene Tb11.01.6470 and referred to as Puf Nine Target 2 (PNT2) in this paper is actually TbCPC2. TbCPC2 was characterized in [1] as a component of the T. brucei chromosomal passenger complex, which is an important coordinator of chromosomal and cytoskeletal events in eukaryotic mitosis. Thus, TbCPC2 is post-transcriptionally regulated in coordination with the cell cycle by PUF9 in T. brucei.

The adoption of original name for the gene, TbCPC2, is encouraged for further studies.
