Multiple morbidities in pregnancy: Time for research, innovation, and action
Despite global commitments to improve maternal health, globally over 300,000 women still die each year during pregnancy, childbirth, or in the postpartum period. Many of these deaths are a result of indirect causes, e.g., infections, non-communicable diseases, and mental health disorders. In a Guest Editorial, James Beeson and colleagues discuss the importance of non-obstetric morbidity during pregnancy, and what needs to be done to address this global health challenge.
