The Stigma of HIV in Society.
Emma Burns is a science illustrator who uses traditional and digital media to create images that depict a story or convey meaning with a single glance. A passionate interest in both biology and the arts led her to a combination of the two professions, wherein she creates artwork that reflects the scientific realm. Along with her lifelong interest in art, Emma earned a B.S. in biology. She is fascinated by the natural world, and flora and fauna are commonly found in her illustrations. This image was a concept created to expose the stigma attached to HIV, and how patients are often outcast in society. Having traveled in Africa and worked with AIDS orphans, Emma feels that it is important to use art in helping to define global health issues.
