Whilst I wholeheartedly support the authors suggestion that all researchers preface their work with a systematic review of the existing literature, may I add one extra feature. Such reviews must include the negative evidence for the hypothesis to be tested. Accepting that negative results are much less likely to be published in the first place, considering those that are available may save a lot of effort and money, and perhaps one's scientific reputation?
