JC was a paid project manager (2003–2005) and PT is Leader (unpaid) of the International Campaign to Revitalise Academic Medicine (ICRAM), launched by BMJ and other journals and organisations in 2003. JC works part time for BMJ as an associate editor, and continues to be a member of ICRAM. JC and PT played no role in the conduct of Ioannidis and colleagues' systematic review, nor was the systematic review funded by ICRAM.
