Results of model comparison.

For each observer, the table shows the model variant that provided the best fit to the data. The same information is provided for the best positional variant of the model based on the alternative (non-best fitting) distance metric. The rightmost column indicates whether the cross-validation log-likelihoods obtained for the best fitting models for the two metric variants differed significantly. A paired-sample t-test, with α criterion level adjusted for multiple comparisons (one test for each observer: p = 0.05/12 = 0.0042) indicated that the two models differed significantly only for one observer (cjz, marked with asterisk). For four other observers p-values were smaller than 0.05 (as shown), but were not significant after the correction for multiple comparisons.
