(A) Direct antagonistic interactions between molecule X and Y at the two SPBs. Both molecules induce the removal of the other from the SPB they are both bound. (B) A less than 0.1% difference in the SPB binding rates or in initial conditions (not shown) can induce quick asymmetry establishment.
