Typical houses in Tigray Region, northern Ethiopia, where cutaneous leishmaniasis is widespread. Almost a quarter of the population show active or past signs of infection. The homesteads offer shelter and breeding sites for sandfly vectors, while intermediate hyrax hosts thrive in nearby gorges. Yohannes et al. (2019)
