Schistosomiasis is an endemic disease in the tropical and subtropical area. About 85% of the world's cases of schistosomiasis are reported in Africa. A photo of a coupled Schistosoma mansoni flukes showing a short stout adult male, having well developed oral and ventral suckers, and a longitudinal gynecophoric canal; in which the longer slender female, having rudimentary suckers, folds within.
