Complications of lepromatous leprosy infection

Erythema nodosum leprosum (ENL) manifesting as painful, erythematous lesions on the forearms of a patient with biopsy-proven lepromatous leprosy. This immunologically-mediated inflammatory reaction can develop abruptly and frequently recur despite effective treatment. A variety of neurologic and dermatologic pathologies can be seen months to years after initial diagnosis and treatment of underlying infection. Wellington and Schofield (2019)
