About This Image
Scabies was previously endemic in the communities of the Lau Lagoon in the Solomon Islands. An intensive control program between 1997–2000 using ivermectin resulted in a dramatic decline in the prevalence of both scabies and secondary bacterial infections. A follow-up survey conducted in 2015 found that long term control of scabies had been achieved in these communities. Marks et al.
