Community Directed Treatment with Ivermectin (CDTI) for control of onchocerciasis.
Ivermectin distribution under the Mectizan Donation Program has been undertaken annually in Ghana. Community ivermectin distributors are located in each endemic community. The number of Mectizan tablets (1–4) is determined by measuring the height of individuals as a surrogate for body weight on the basis of a dose rate of 150 µg/kg. CDTI was developed under the Onchocerciasis Control Programme for West Africa and has been used by the African Programme for Onchocerciasis Control. See Prichard et al.
