Competing Interests

LK and AP are co-founders of Solid Sustainability Research, an independent research organisation focused on greenwashing and other forms of climate obstruction. They have collaborated with LV on a project basis. LK and LV serve on the board of Climate Obstruction NL (CONL), which facilitates a research network and disseminates knowledge on climate obstruction to various stakeholders. AP is a member of the CONL research network. All authors have been, or still are active in advocacy and activism initiatives, including Scientists Rebellion, Extinction Rebellion, and Scientists for Future.
