Treatment of patients whose respiratory samples were tested for PJP by PCR and IFA.
Specified criteria: Definite PJP (i) presence of at least two of fever, cough, and dyspnea, (ii) compatible radiographic chest imaging, (iii) good response to PJP treatment, and (iv) no other potential etiology. Potential PJP (i) presence of at least two of fever, cough, and dyspnea, (ii) compatible radiographic chest imaging, and (iii) other concurrent etiology causing respiratory abnormalities. PJP, Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia; PCR, polymerase chain reaction; IFA, immunofluorescence assay.
