In the article “An account of Colletotrichum species associated with anthracnose of Atractylodes ovata in South Korea based on morphology and molecular data” by Hassan O, Kim JS, Romain BBND, and Chang T (PLoS ONE, 2022, 17(1): e0263084. https://doi.org/10.1371/j...), there was an error in the naming of a new Colletotrichum species. The name "Colletotrichum ovataense" [MB#839114] used in this article is grammatically not acceptable. In addition, the name was invalidly published as no holotype was indicated. The name is validated herein using the correct orthography referring to the host plant:

Colletotrichum ovatae O. Hassan, Ju Sung Kim, B.B.N.D. Romain & T. Chang, sp. nov. MB853831.

Holotype: KACC 49789, preserved in a metabolically inactive state.
