Causal relationship for cat bites

There is a possible cause in depressed women receiving cat bites. Lonely and blue, the women may attempt to cuddle and over handle their cats, which triggers a cat bite as a response to force a "let me go" reaction.

Before claiming there is a causal link, one would need a proper experiment manipulating one of the parameters to see if there is a change in the other.
