ED50 calculation error

Posted by drpetergrace on 14 Oct 2013 at 21:17 GMT

Zhang et al. state that the ED50 = 50% antiallodynia, but this is wrong: ED50 = 50% of Emax. As anti-allodynia is a percentage of the von Frey threshold range in the saline treated group, this assumes that Emax for both tramadol and PPF is 100% anti-allodynia, which has not been demonstrated by the authors and is unlikely to be true. Hence, the interaction calculation is based on false values.
