closeMy perspective as a college student

Being a college student myself, I can strongly relate to this article. To add, Covid-19 has made not only stress but depression and anxiety much worse in college students. I say this because most of our current classes are online, thus giving us no reason to get out of bed. What we students don't understand is how important it is for our mental and physical health to get out and socialize every day, and to give our brains that much-needed break from staring at a screen all day. I recently wrote a research paper on stress seen in college students, and the numbers in stress, anxiety, and depression are very high right now due to Covid-19. Thankfully colleges are noticing that their students are becoming more stressed during these rough times and are offering different ways to help. The University of Arizona is aware of this situation and is taking steps to help its students manage stress now and in the future. They offer many different ways for students to access technical support almost 24/7. This may not seem like much help, but this is actually a huge help for students. I am not sure about anyone else, but I tend to wait till the last minute to turn in assignments, usually at night time. Yes, I am asking for this added stress, but thankfully schools like this notice that most of our classes are online, and having technical support available almost all the time is greatly appreciated. The college also recommends us maintaining a healthy diet and exercising, this is important to keep in mind going through college, and for stressors later in life. Covid-19 is making college students more stressed, which leads to more depression and anxiety. Unfortunately we have to learn to deal with it or to not go to college, hopefully more colleges will follow behind the University of Arizona and notice the struggles we are facing during these tough times.
