Referee Comments: Referee 2

Referee 2's Review:

The subject of the study presented by Garcia and colleagues is of high interest in the Molecular Parasitology Field, and the manuscript is well presented. However, the data do not clearly show that the serpentine receptors are expressed as functional transmembrane proteins. Since this is the first time such receptors are indentified in P. falciparum, it is important to demonstrate their undeniable expression. Therefore, I would suggest a few more experiments in order to show the functionality or at least the expression of the receptors, for instance, subcellular location of receptors by immunofluorescence, or simply evidence of protein expression by western blot analysis.
