closeVideos cannot be viewed

I reported earlier that PLoS ONE used the wrong files for Figures 1 through 8. I am sorry to have to add that the four videos included as Supporting Information will not play after being downloaded. They have no file extension, are not recognized by my PC and will not play on RealPlayer, Windows Media Player or QuickTime. I uploaded them as .wmv files which run on the first two applications. Adding the .wmv extension to the files does not rescue them. An additional problem, almost trivial by comparison, is that the pdf file of our paper is far bigger than it should be -- over 30 Mb. I have reported these problems to PLoS ONE. This is, without exaggeration, the worst publishing experience of my career.

The PLoS ONE team has informed me that the files for Videos S1 through S4 are compressed in the .7z format (7-Zip). After downloading on a PC, you can right-click the file, then left-click on "7-Zip" and choose from various options such as "Open archive", "Extract files..." etc in the drop-down menu.
For Mac users, apparently Stuffit-Expander will not work. It seems you can download a Mac-compatible decompression programme at these sites:

I have not tried the Mac software myself. The sites look legit, but I provide no assurances as to safety, bugs, incompatibilities, etc.
