Methodology Question - Changing Filter Paper

Posted by tip184 on 20 Mar 2017 at 13:49 GMT

You indicate that "The filter paper was changed after each training trial." Is this correct? There were 6 trials in which the fly was exposed to the peppermint; was the filter paper changed after each one? Or was it changed after each session, such that each fly got a new filter paper? Thanks! Jeff

Thanks for reading our paper.
In our experiments, flies were trained in squads of 5-20 each trial. It means in each training trial,5-20 flies were given odor for training one by one. Thus, filter paper was not changed after each one, but after each training trial.
This method is similar with that used in honeybee. You can find a video in JOVE.
Do I make the question clear?
