The sentence in the second paragraph of the discussion which says “In addition to some reliability concerns depending on the RNA source used to activate RIG-I (49)….” looks misleading as written.
It should read instead: “Upon activation with different viruses, RIG-I conformational changes were observed in every case, while RIG-I oligomerization measured by native PAGE and western blot was variable (49). In addition, a band shift indicates a molecular change and does not necessarily prove oligomerization.”
