Exciting view and a wonderful study. Thanks. It seems to help solving a number of puzzles with regard to the effects of SSRI's on depression.
Two issues are - to me - not cleared up by this view:
1) Why do a number of patients report a kind of mood flattening effect of their SSRI, becoming more laconic about the things that bothered them, which is, in some cases, beneficial though.
2) Is the increased brain plasticity idea suited to explain the often beneficial effect of SSRI's on social anxiety and OCD, or should this rather be explained by the effect mentioned in 1?
Is the effect in 1 to be explained by increased brain plasticity as a consequence of the SSRI?
