This is a very timely study when we are struggling to combat the global threat of HIV/Tb co-infection. While animal studies would only suffice what actually could be happening actually the ex-vivo studies using PMBC could be the best initiation point to characterize the complex interplay of HIV-Tb co-infection. I think this study provides a basic frame work for more detailed and extensive studies to further dissect the basis of differential regulation of HIV replication by different clinical strains.
