This is a fantastic and much-needed paper

The costs of mate choice are an important component of models of mate choice evolution, but the nature of such costs (and even whether they exist at all) has been much neglected. This paper provides a new and important form of direct evidence about the costs of choice. It is one of several exciting new research directions at the interface of sexual selection and ecophysiology. Congratulations - I hope your decision to take a chance on PLoS One pays off, when many more establishedjournals would have jumped at the chance to publish this paper.

I am going to recommend this paper to my group's journal club and see what they have to say!
