Reviewer 2's Review

“This seems an interesting analysis of the applicability of proteonomic analysis to diagnosis of VTE.

The issues of such new parameters include:

- reproducibility of all lab methods
- practical application. Are all centres likely to have the technology to perform such analyses? I suspect not. Perhaps show a proposed diagnostic algorithm to illustrate how this technology would fit into current VTE diagnosis, based on clinical pre-test probability.
- smallish numbers of the validation cohort.

Table 1 needs much more information eg. comorbidities, concomitant therapies, renal function, LV function, etc.”
