Typo in Equation (2)

Equation (2):

d= (cos θ, sin θ)

defines the two (eastward and northward) components of d the unit vector pointing in the direction of movement. As θ is the heading angle relative to North, the correct version of this equation obviously is :

d= (sinθ, cos θ) (2 corrected)

Typo - page 22

The penultimate sentence of the second paragraph in the “Spatial density distribution” section shall read:
The density distribution finally changes shape at about 135°W, where the mean swimming speed changes direction and becomes eastward (not westward!)

No competing interests declared.
