The beta 2 and single channel activity: Hallmark of heart failure?

Posted by schwara on 17 Mar 2007 at 06:38 GMT

It appears that the downregulation of the beta 2 acccessory subunit "protects" the heart against a pore opening state thus maintaining a "normal" calcium influx; an upregulation of beta 2, results in (?) a single channel channel pattern that is consistent with an increase influx of calcium which in turn may turn on a hypertophic/failing phenotype. Does this seem logical?
