antibodies for detecting somal iglutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD)

As the authors infer, there are many antibodies against GAD65 and GAD67 and GABA that greatly vary in their specificity for these molecules. A rabbit antibody call K-2 was good at detecting GABAergic cell bodies (PMID: 1988566 ) but this is no longer commercially available. A mouse monoclonal called K-87 which was made against a peptide specific for GAD67 gives even better at staining GABAergic somata and dendrites and is commercially available, although an antigen-retrival step is necessary. We have used this very successfully on mouse and human tissues, avoiding the in situ hybridization. I hope this helps.

Thanks for your useful information. We may try this antibody in our future work.
