Fascinating read. Understanding the impact such viral videos have on widespread attitudes towards animals, particularly endangered species, is very important. As a biologist focused on conservation,I myself find such viral videos and their endorsement extremely frustrating. Seeing the effect that education can have, via word of mouth or televised programmes, is an encouraging step in the right direction. Hopefully in the future such videos will eventually fall under violation of guidelines on these websites, with the exploitation and illegal trade of animals being taken as seriously as it should be.
