The idea of dedifferentiation

Posted by eallen459 on 24 Feb 2018 at 10:32 GMT

I am a student in North London, and I am writing an article for my school artificial biological limbs. I was hoping you may be able to answer a few of my queries:
What could allow humans to regrow limbs like the axolotl, or to form dedifferentiated tissue if regenerative abilities in these animals are rooted in a common ancestor? Would it require genetic manipulation?
Would it also be possible to produce the limb apart from the body and then transplant it?
