Good and Exciting!!! M. avium taxonomy had long been haunted by lack of adequate studies. This study is a much awaited end to the debate about origin of this group of organisms, and a step forward in giving a holistic look to the picture of mycobacterial evolution. The authors through systematically carried out studies, have well deduced conclusions presented in a neat manner. For we immunology guys, this bug evokes considerable curiosity due to its extensive and exceptional immunomodulation properties in wide range of lethal infections including AIDS/TB and Cancer. Probably unraveling of genome sequence of this bug will solve many a mysteries, which we so eagerly are waiting for!
