Author Declaration Statement

Posted by thou778 on 09 Apr 2021 at 13:58 GMT

"The "Psychological distress" Methods section in this article states, "Zanon and colleagues [44] based on eight countries including China examined the dimensionality of DASS-21 and suggested that DASS-21 would be best utilized as a unidimensional distress scale rather than three separate components of depression, anxiety and stress."

The authors declare that in this sentence, countries refer to an area of land considered associated with a particular feature [1]. In other words, eight countries in this sentence refer to eight regions and did not refer to eight independent sovereign states.

In the cited article (see reference 44), Hong Kong and Taiwan were included in the eight countries.

Hong Kong is not an independent sovereign state, instead it is a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

All authors resolutely uphold the One China policy and support China's territorial integrity, which does not recognize Taiwan as an independent sovereign state.

PLOS ONE remains neutral regarding this dispute, as per this policy.
