Self-domesticated Homo sapiens?

Posted by marc_verhaegen on 12 Dec 2017 at 10:01 GMT

Thanks for this beautiful article. Whereas many typically human features can probably be explained by self-domestication, others cannot, e.g. our very long legs are the opposite of paedomorphosis. More specifically, many differences between H. neanderthalensis and H. sapiens can IMO better be explained by using comparative data, especially in the light of the Littoral Theory of human evolution (or Coastal Dispersal Model, S. Munro 2010), e.g. loss of platycephaly, reduction of the supra-orbiral torus, reduction of pachyosteosclerosis, tibial lengthening etc. Google e.g. "unproven assumptions so-called aquatic ape hypothesis" or "aquatic ape theory made easy 2017 Verhaegen".
