Suggestions for reducing False Posiive Rates (& therefore improve return screening rates)

Posted by ajha733 on 09 Mar 2020 at 08:10 GMT

Interesting to see that only 1 out of 16 women who were recalled ended up having breast cancer and rest were all false positive. The improvement in technology has improved ie decreased false positives, however do you think that it is time that the breast screening modality should move to DBT (digital breast tomography), in addition to other interventions for improving screening efficiency eg focus on high-risk groups. Your article is silent on what could be the actions that can be taken by the system to reduce false positive rates and have better resource utilisation. Also, the data is >20yrs old, and doing the same study today might give different result.
