Competing Interests

Three of the authors have an affiliation (K.S.P., S.K.T., and R.L.H) and another formerly had an affiliation (D.E.J.) to the commercial funders of this research, as employees of Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc which sells food to aid in the management of renal disease and urolithiasis. The funder provided support (in the form of salaries, and access to the colony bioarchived samples), but did not have any additional role. The funders had no role in the design of the study; in the collection, analyses, or interpretation of data; in the writing of the manuscript; or decision to publish.
