Competing Interests

Both A.S.P. and C.A.G. are affiliated with Nixxi, a biotech startup that holds relevant patents and is producing risk stratification tools for pregnancy. ASP is employed by Valley Perinatal Services, a maternal-fetal medicine physician practice in Phoenix, Arizona. NWG is a research scientist currently at Gaikwad Steroidomics Laboratory; he performed all mass spectroscopy experiments in a previous faculty position at the University of California at Davis. A.S.P is an inventor on US Patent Application #20190137507: “Quantitative profiling of progesterone metabolites for the prediction of spontaneous preterm delivery“. The research may be used to develop future products. This does not alter our adherence to PLOS ONE policies on sharing data and materials. The remaining authors have no competing interests to report.
