The first authors filled a patent related to the content of this manuscript which might potentially pose a competing interest. A patent based on the concept and data presented in this paper has been filed in late 2015 and 2016 (LU92906, PCT/EP2016/064094; "Method for enzymatically modifying the tri-dimensional structure of a protein"; Kjell Sergeant inventor). The patent is owned by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology that has no affiliation to any commercial entity. Those protection procedures of associated intellectual property do not alter our adherence to PLOS ONE policies on sharing data and materials.
