Competing Interests
Pfizer invested in the establishment of the Research Chair for atherosclerosis awarded by the University of Montreal to our co-author Jean-Claude Tardif (JCT), they played no further role in his salary, nor in the development of subsequent projects, including the study design, data collection and analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the current manuscript. The specific roles of the authors are articulated in the ‘author contributions’ section. There remains no objection to sharing data and materials as per PLOS ONE policies. Furthermore, there exists no conflict of interest with CIHR and FICM, the organisms that funded the research in question.
