Competing Interests
Initial funding by AFEMS to model lead shot effects at population level could be perceived as a competing interest but the authors changed the models since then and did almost all of the work in this paper on their own time, deciding to address lead shot and poisons. AFEMS did not interfere with the write-up or conclusions in the paper.
