Competing Interests
Miyuki Kono, Naoto Miura, and Takafumi Miyatake are employees of Hitachi Ltd., and this study was performed as a collaborative project between Hitachi Ltd. and the Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, Kyoto University. The finger-vein authentication system is a commercial product of Hitachi Ltd., but patents related to this system were already applied and no patent application exists based on this study.
