Competing Interests
Four of the authors (Jonas Brännström, Tomas Jansson, Karel Marsal and Ann Thuring) have in 2012 submitted a national patent application to The Swedish Patent and Registration Office. The application “Acoustic analysis and quantification of Doppler flow signals from the cardiovascular system” has been registered (patent pending number SE 1200357-0) and is being processed. The patent application is based on the material and results described in the present paper; however, the application is not in conflict with the PLOS ONE policies on sharing data and materials. Maria Ewerlöf, Edgar Hernandez-Andrade, David Ley, Göran Lingman and Karina Liuba have declared that no competing interests exist.
